Chris Bruce studied at Cambridge University and subsequently lived and worked in Italy, before entering on a career in industry. In the early nineties he pursued foundation studies in Fine Art at Cheltenham Art College, going on to study there for a BA in Painting. Whilst at Cheltenham he began painting horse racing using video source material, which he captured at the race course adjacent to the Art College. This strand of work became the focus for his interest in questions of presence/transience. He emerged as one of the leading contemporary voices in the genre, and was represented by galleries in London, the Cotswolds and the north of England.
In recent years, his work has been concerned with ‘story’: the ways stories form in contemporary culture, and the resonances that surface between traditional story-telling and the populist tropes of present day politics. He draws on multiple sources ranging from film to folklore, frequently deploying pareidolia to discover his narratives (*pareidolia — the cognitive propensity to discern form in chaotic experience), effectively fostering random and accidental ‘events’ in the paint surface. Chris says, ‘the stories that occur in my paintings are my attempt to give metaphorical form to this seemingly unsettled, unraveling moment in our collective present’.

Last orders for digitally printed products : 8th December. Our prints and other digitally printed products are made via print-on-demand (not in-house), so we recommend ordering by the 8th to allow extra time for any unexpected printing or shipping delays that are out of our control.
Other online orders (excluding digitally printed products and products made to order): 15th December. Order by then for the best chance to receive by Christmas.
Final order date before Christmas closure: 19th December. Last postal collections from the gallery is the 22nd December and may take longer to reach you due to Christmas and Boxing day. Any ordered after the 19th may not be posted until we reopen on the 2nd January.
Delivery (Digitally Printed Products)
Our digitally printed products (eg. prints, t-shirts, tea towels and cushions) are printed on demand by one of our worldwide print partners, and shipped directly to you. Production time is approximately 3-5 business days, plus 3-5 days for delivery.
Delivery (All Other Products)
We aim to dispatch items within 2-3 business days using either Royal Mail or DHL recorded delivery. Delivery times are approximately 2-3 business days in the UK, 5-7 business days in Europe, and 8-10 business days worldwide.
Refund Policy
If you are a UK customer and are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your item. We will be happy to provide you with a full refund or exchange, minus any delivery charges. Please note that original artworks, products printed to order, or any sales from outside of the UK, are NOT eligible for returns/refunds.
All items must be returned to us in its original condition and packaging. We reserve the right to refuse a refund or exchange if the item is not returned in its original condition. The buyer is responsible for return delivery costs.
